EDI Solutions & Software Services from AdvanceFirst
Electronic Data Interchange can be as varied as your business needs. There are many different approaches to enable EDI across your trading community. EDI systems are perfect for businesses looking to implement their first EDI solution or those expanding their existing infrastructure to support business partners around the world. As an EDI services provider, we make electronic trading easy no matter your business needs, technical capabilities, or budget.
Choosing The Right EDI System For Your Business
Fully Managed EDI (AMOS)
Our Advance Managed Outsource Solution (AMOS) is a fully managed EDI service enabling our clients to connect and share EDI data with virtually any external trading partner regardless of the data formats used. We take care of the technical complexities and liaise with trading partners on behalf of our clients to achieve the shortest possible time to value.
A dedicated instance of AMOS is commissioned for each AFT/AMOS Customer, hosted securely within AdvanceFirst’s High-Availability data servers on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The service particularly suits companies who find the ever changing aspect of managing numerous and diverse EDI trading relationships a constant challenge. AMOS takes the cost and complexity out of creating and maintaining electronic links with potentially each and every member of external Trading Partner communities, coupled with AdvanceFirst’s EDI expertise and domain knowledge.
Web-Based EDI (CWT)
Community Web-Trader (CWT) offers a web-EDI based platform for Suppliers with little or no formal EDI technical expertise or capabilities. CWT is a simple, low cost, easy to implement web EDI/supply chain solution for small to medium sized trading communities of suppliers, customers and sales forces.
The two biggest issues standing in the way of 100% EDI supply chain integration are those of COST and COMPLEXITY.
Advance Community Web Trader is designed to overcome these two problems by providing the trading hub with a tailored secure website into which it deposits orders for typically small to medium sized suppliers. These suppliers can then utilise any device with a web browser to access the website and download trading documents such as orders and remittance advices, whilst at the same time, “spinning” received Customer purchase orders to automatically create and submit other trading documents such as Invoices, Credit Notes or Advance Shipping Notifications (ASNs) to their customers.
Community Web Trader is a quick to adopt, low-cost route for Suppliers to commence electronic trading with their customers. It provides a natural pathway for migrating to formalised EDI as business volumes increase where full data integration with internal IT systems is required.
In-House EDI Software Solutions
For clients who prefer to operate and manage their EDI processes themselves, AdvanceFirst provide the following in-house EDI management software suites:
Advanced Business Collaborator (ABC)
An Intel based, stand-alone EDI software suite specifically designed to satisfy most if not all our clients communication, data transformation and systems Integration requirements. Easy to use and low cost.
Intercept-400
An Advanced Electronic Commerce software solution for the IBM iSeries and AS400 platforms.
Advance Purchase-to-Pay (AP2P)
Advance Purchase-to-Pay (AP2P) helps organisations connect directly with their customers and Trading Partners or across multiple on-line trading platforms and marketplaces.
Powered by intelligent EDI solutions from AdvanceFirst Technologies, AP2P offers simplistic, low-cost monthly subscription fees to connect your internal IT and business systems to those of your trading partners, thereby automating the exchange of business-related documents and minimising the overheads, costs, risks and time delays associated with manual rekeying and processing.
The solution provides subscribers with a single point connection to the AdvanceFirst AP2P messaging platform. We deal with the complexity, diversity of connections, processes and data formats used by your trading partners and the online trading platforms, Value Added Networks or other 3rd party EDI networks to which they may be connected.
Process Automation Solutions
With our first class EDI services and unparalleled expertise, AdvanceFirst assists clients in automating key business processes to add value to their trading partner relationships and investment in EDI. From seamlessly exchanging Order-cycle business transactions, to creating Drop-Ship processes with key suppliers, Logistics partner integration, real-time data enquiry systems and fully automated Zero-touch message exchange solutions.
Business Process Logic
Ensuring Data is Fit for Purpose.
Standard EDI does not ensure data is fit for purpose once imported into a receiver’s business systems.
A particularly powerful feature of AFT’s outsourced managed EDI service is the ability to add business logic to the data in messages as they flow through AMOS from sender to receiver. These are bespoke routines to ensure data contained within messages is compliant with the receivers ERP systems and can be imported automatically without the need for manual checks or pre-processes.
Transaction Visibility (ARC)
ARC “Advance Archive, Retrieval & Control System” was designed to improve the visibility and control AdvanceFirst clients can have over their EDI operations. It can be accessed via a web browser and was designed primarily for message tracking and auditing purposes by users of AdvanceFirst’s Managed EDI services.
Its primary purpose is to provide information about the files and documents exchanged with external trading partners and processed by AdvanceFirst to answer common questions such as “Has a particular Customer order been sent?”, “If so, when?”, “When was it downloaded by my trading partner?”, “Has the receipt of the order been received?”. It also provides a very useful intelligent document storage and retrieval service (with advanced search capabilities) for those clients who require it.
Customised Trading Community Portals
The simplest way of getting you and your trading community involved is to design and configure a trading portal for you to show them.
With all the required information and systems needed to help them get up and running as soon as possible with minimal investment it is a very fast way of growing your trading community.
AdvanceFirst can design a tailor-made Trading Community Portal with your company logos and branding with all the appropriate messages you wish to provide for your supplier/customer community. We can set up solutions tailored to your requirements for all your trading community, already containing your key trading document formats.

WHAT DOES EDI MEAN?
EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange and refers to the electronic interchange of business information in a standardised format. This automated system allows one company to send information and data to another electronically, and is typically used for a variety of things from invoicing and order processing to payment confirmations and customs information.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF EDI?
There are a variety of different types of EDI depending on your business needs. Some of these types include Web EDI, Integrated EDI, Managed Service EDI, EDI for Amazon, and the new EDI technology of AMOS.net.
WHY DO BUSINESSES NEED EDI SOLUTIONS?
WHICH INDUSTRIES BENEFIT FROM EDI?
EDI services can be adapted to suit your business needs, making it the ideal solution for any industry. It has proven to be useful in automotive and manufacturing, financial services, retail and food service, and technology, to name a few. If your business is in an industry where the automation of electronic documents would allow you to adapt more quickly, you might need EDI.
IS IT BETTER TO OUTSOURCE EDI SYSTEMS?
Whether or not you outsource your EDI system integration is dependent on your internal teams. If you do not have a team with the knowledge to successfully integrate it, you may find it difficult to do so successfully. Partnering with an EDI business and intelligent process automation experts will ensure that the systems put into place perfectly suit your needs so you can focus on other areas of your business. Equally other forms of data can be automated through AAIS directly to/from your internal business applications or web-servers including product related catalogue data, FBA messages and Alerts and Notifications Amazon make available to you from time to time.
